It was a perfect fit: a woman from Minnesota named Sarah Mandler wrote to say she wanted to raise funds for something special the children in our Malawian orphan program might need. A few days later, Chifundo Director Moses Mtambo wrote from Malawi to say the children were desperately in need of new school uniforms. Their school had recently changed uniforms, they had no money for new ones and couldn’t attend school without them. At a cost of $15.00 for each boy’s uniform and $12.00 for each girl’s uniform, the purchase price was simply too high for the guardians caring for these children. So Moses sent quotes for uniform costs, Sarah got to work on raising the contributions and here is the result – a group of very proud, happy kids.
The kids send a big Zikomo kwamberi ( thank you very much!) to our generous Minnesota friends. And we send back a big thank you to Director Mtambo and his hard-working Chifundo team in Kalieka township. Thank you for all you do for these children – to lift them up, give them hope and show them the unconditional love of God.
Like little Samson – who could have died from a bad bout of malaria this past fall. But because of the faithful team in Malawi and faithful, generous and regular contributors to our Chifundo program here, Samson was able to receive the hospital care he needed. And here he poses proudly in his new school uniform. As you can see, he’s taking it very seriously!
