On Monday June 18th, Ancient Path Board treasurer Martin M’Tambo and his friend, Dan Barnes, played 100 holes of golf to raise money for Ancient Path. Reporting on his participation in the National Golfathon event, Martin writes:
We teed off at about 6:05am and finally finished a few minutes before 5:00pm. After 81 holes our bodies reminded us that this was not your usual weekend golf outing! On the 95th hole, a rain storm drove us to take cover. We put on our rain gear and waited 10 to 15 minutes for it to pass. However, we knew we had to redeem every single penny that was pledged to help feed the children in Ancient Path’s Chifundo’s Basket program.
I raised a little over $3,500 and my friend raised about $500 for a total of $4,000. Since Bob-O-Link Golf Course hosted the Golfathon for free and Dan and I asked GTAA not to give us any prizes, Ancient Path will receive 90% of all the funds raised.
Next year I plan to start preparing for this event earlier and hope more golfers will join me.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support!
Martin M’Tambo
