These basketball athletes in Madagascar may not have the shoes or the sharp uniforms, the equipment or indoor court or multiple coaches that our American high school programs enjoy. But they have the same heart and love for the game. That’s why Julia and Nate Ellifritt held on to the dream to take Nate’s love of the game back to his birth country. That’s why Tom, Mary, Dan and Shawn Breslin joined them, traveling halfway across the world lugging suitcases full of basketballs, and soccer balls and donated shoes. And that’s why we want to do whatever we can to encourage the dreams of these Malagasy young people. It’s just one of many ways to share God’s love and joy in a land where daily life can be a struggle for so many. We may be worlds apart, but underneath it all we have the same dreams and hopes; we have the same heart. And here in Cleveland, Ohio we know something about heart, right Cavs fans?:)
