Every year we celebrate this important holiday with our children who have come to us from China and other countries around the world.
This year we will meet on Sunday afternoon, February 1st from 1-4 pm. Instead of meeting at the restaurant, as we have in past years, our event will be held at the Ancient Path house at 8587 Usher Road in Olmsted Twp. Our friends from Hong Kong Palace will cater the food, bringing in a simple but delicious menu of egg rolls, fried rice and won ton soup. Cost is $15 per family. Also, we would ask each family to bring a 2-litre bottle of pop.
Meeting at the Ancient Path house allows us to enjoy a relaxing afternoon without worrying about bothering other restaurant patrons. We’ll do New Year’s activities with the children after lunch – and we also have a separate kids’ room where they can enjoy their own videos, games and conversations.
Throughout the afternoon we’ll share stories and listen to each other’s best memories. We’ll tell you about a book, recently released by Focus on the Family, that’s a great resource for adoptive parents. We’ll also tell you about our recent Chifundo’s Basket contribution to Chinese ministries working in the earthquake zone, with recent reports and photos from that region. We’ll pray for the 2 million people still homeless in China from the quake. We’ll pray for each other and most of all – for our children.
It will be a fun and meaningful time – with Chinese music, decorations, food, and colorful dress – bringing in the Year of the Ox, as we celebrate the children we love.
If you’re a family member, a friend, if you’re interested in adoption, or you have a heart for the people of China – come join us!
Please RSVP by replying to this email by next Thursday, January 29th, so we know how much food to order!
See you on the 1st! And don’t forget to have your kids dress up in their native costumes!
