Global Day of Prayer for Children: Report from Ravoahangys in Antananarivo

Due to the current state of affairs in Madagascar – soaring food prices, chronic food insecurity, natural disasters and political crisis – Ancient Path has been sending increased Chifundo’s Basket funds to our partners at Global Action – Ibrahim and Cathy Ravoahangy. We’ve been working alongside this faithful couple for a decade and can attest to their integrity, their sacrificial love for the poor and devoted love and service to God.  They have chosen to live in an area surrounded by the poor. Whenever we visit them, we can hear patter of children’s feet outside the window as early as 4:30 am as they climb up and down the steep rocky path with large containers on their heads to fill at the only water tap in the village. To help care for these children, Ibrahim and Cathy have built a facility that they call The Hope Center behind their house. Several days each week, they open their gates and children of all ages flood in. They come for fresh bread, they come for Bible lessons and academic tutoring. Most of all, they come for love, acceptance and hope.

Recently, Cathy sent an email  about a special event for the children. She writes:

We are preparing the Global Day of prayer for children and youth. Our children from Ambatoroka will be participating. So, we had to take in charge their transport two times to the venue of repetition, to give them food for lunch three times and to give them clothes ( skirts and shirts for girls, and trousers and shirts for boys) . Forty-five children will take part in this evangelism… They will together play( mime) the parablel of Jesus about the fool who build his house on sand and the wise man who build his house on the rock. Two of them will give testimonies and 5 little ones of 5, 6 and 7 years old will pray in front of a big gathering of more than one thousand people. PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE LITTLE ONES who will testfy about their faith. PRAY also for the youth who will dance and preach also the gospel so that all of them will be full of the Spirit and that God will touch the attendance.

We’ve been part of prayer times with these children and can tell you, they’re serious about prayer! We can only imagine what an exciting time this was for children who rarely leave their village – not only to have new clothes and good meals, but to travel and to participate in something so important. Especially at such a difficult time in their country.

It’s a privilege to partner with the Ravoahangys and Global Action, transforming the lives of children in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
